Art Crush: John Yau (NYFA Interview)

I so enjoy this interview–thank you New York Foundation for the Arts! I’ve viewed it many times. Always, I love reaching the part where he says, “Write to achieve your own satisfaction.”

My favorite poem of his is Russian Letter (2), which I often recite when I am out walking. . .just another person talking to herself. . .

I have a copy of it pinned to the wall in front of my bench in my studio. I like to look up from a task and see poems I’ve memorized. It’s a bit like running into old friends–exciting and comforting at once.
